I realize the question of authenticity in oral tradition is more
interesting than this detail.

I would have to recheck the geological sources, but I have the strong
recollection that any blockage of the Med from the Atlantic long predates
the presence of humans in the area of the Med. Any or all of the floods
recorded in the early Mesopotamian archaeological sequence would be better
candidates.
