FROM: Indonesian Studies Committee - Kathleen Adams, Chair
RE: Quarterly Newsletter on Indonesia

We would like to draw your attention to our internationally circulated
newsletter, Antara Kita, designed to help advance the study of Indonesia.

Antara Kita (Between Us) is the 18-page, English-language newsletter
of the Indonesian Studies Committee, a professional group within the
Association for Asian Studies in the U.S.

Antara Kita contains several features that would benefit most
scholars who have an interest in Indonesia:

o Antara Kita provides insight into political,
economic, and social trends occurring in Indonesia.

o Antara Kita offers comprehensive book reviews in
every issue, written by volunteer contributors
across disciplines.

o Antara Kita provides notices of new books, theses
and dissertations, monographs, and periodical
sources dealing with Indonesia. This includes
Indonesian-language materials and thematic
bibliographies.

o Antara Kita presents brief articles explaining
the extensive information about Indonesia which may
be obtained online.

o Antara Kita covers work by foreign researchers on
Indonesia, work by Indonesian researchers, and
contributions by Indonesian students.

o Antara Kita offers information on obtaining research
visas and other insights into obtaining the necessary
permissions for field work.

o Antara Kita has a contemporary and cross-
disciplinary focus.

o Antara Kita appears 4 times a year at very
reasonable subscription rates. One may choose
between a paper and an email edition.

John MacDougall, editor of Indonesia Publications, and Rita Kipp,
professor of anthropology at Kenyon College, are respectively the editor
and book review editor of Antara Kita.

Submissions (small to large ones) and ideas (humble to grandiose) for
Antara Kita may be sent directly to the editors, ideally by email but also
by other available means.

The editors welcome reports of Indonesia-related recently completed
research and research-in-progress by faculty and students. Publishers are
invited to send review copies of recent works on Indonesia.

The editors especially invite graduate students, foreign scholars
and Indonesians to enter a subscription to Antara Kita. You can obtain
subscription and book review information from the following sources.
Please reply by personal email if at all possible.
