I don't know if this fits in to your needs, but The Lubbock Lake Landmark
is an ongoing archeological site that has been turned into state historical
park and exhibit, complete with interpretive centers, trails, etc.
The public moves through the park, while archeologists work, and
docents explain the features. The public does volunteer work in
the fieldwork here as well. There are a lot of publications on tis
site, and some may relate to how the public was taken into
consideration in this archeological site.
