How do potlachs fit into this discussion? And what about the fact that
pre-capitalist Western societies found it necessary to pass sumptuary
laws? And the fact that Gotama Buddha placed greed at the root of the
suffering of the indigenous peoples of what we now call Northeast India
(or their Aryan conquerers) as well as all other sentient beings?

And what of the theory that the African savannah is the product of
prehistoric human activities?
