Well, he has done it again! RJ has now achieved his goal, which is to
make anthro-l a forum for discussion of Robert Johnson, and a bulletin
board where he can post his side of his continuing dispute with his
department.

This has happened before, on this and many other lists. I would LOVE to
have a discussion of the political stance of anthropology, and the issues
of ethnicity, claims to legitimate tradition, and cultural autonomy. I
have spent many years of my life thinking and writing about these issues,
and like many people on this list I have tried to establish some degree
of committment to people I have worked with. But I WILL NOT get into a
contest with anyone or RJ to see who is more radical, who is more
committed, etc.. Every time we start one of these discussions, RJ brings
it righ back to himself, and the obvious thrill he is getting out of
being against the establishment.

Fine - shake things up. But lets not have this end up being about YOU.
