Looking for ethnographic and ethnohistoric examples of trade fairs. By
definition, I mean large-scale, multiethnic gatherings of hunter-gatherers.
Such gatherings may have occurred for reasons of religious or ceremonial
activities, feasting, dancing, etc., but usually involve the exchange of
goods and materials forming an economic basis to such activities. I would
like to explore the use of such analogs or examples in a prehistoric context.
Can anyone provide examples of ethnic groups, culture areas and references?
