I teach a course called "The Varieties of Human Experience," a
comparative cultures course intended for students with no previous
experience of anthropology, that normally has an enrollment of about
200. In order to set the mood for lectures, I want to play about 5
minutes of music as the students are coming into the room. I want to
play selections from as wide a diversity of different societies as possible.

The problem is to assemble the bits of music. If you have music from
anywhere in the world and would be willing to send me a tape, I would be
very grateful. For each bit that I play I plan to ask the students if
anyone has an idea about where it might come from, and then I will tell
them. So please tell me exactly where and when the music was recorded.
And also please let me know if you want me to return your tape, in which
case I will copy it and return it to you.

Please send tapes to: Allan Hanson, Department of Anthropology,
University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS 66044. And thanks very much!
