behooves him to employ it in writing his definition of relativism (especially
to students!). Relativism (as in Boasian/cultural) is, in my opinion, an
important philosophy/epistemology/paradigm that deserves more cautious thought
and context than a few obviously biased cautionary statements about what it
MIGHT lead to can provide.
Although few people maintain a relativist position today, I think that
contemporary anthropologists (especially those with a pomo bent) can learn much
from a fuller understanding of the concept and its very significant effects on
20th century anthropology.
