I too read Rifkin's "Entropy" some years ago as part of a book club
assignment. Everyone in the group pretty much thought that it was a
poorly written book. "Entropy" is really a metaphor in this book for
certain kinds of human behavior. The book was popular because it
engaged this metaphor in a way that people could relate to, but it had
little to do with real physics.
