yup...i'm a canajun born and bred.....and you are right about the
cultural importance of modesty in canada.....but modesty, i think, is the
very negation i was thinking of [ but could not find the word]...

[i was born and raised in southern ontario...and i lived in the u.s.
briefly in the earely seventies....nice memories but dirty streets is
about all a remember]


i guess the difference is we learned to happy we were canadian rather
than proud of it [ some might say that we learn to be releived that we
are canadian]...

the spectacle this week of bill clinton making speaches in canada that
champion ideas about social responsbility that are thirty years old here
in canada perhaps points of the difference between America and Canada
very nicely...
