scheme of Anthropology. Garfinkle, a student of PArsons, rejected the
grand theory approach, but suggested that there were strong regularities
in the way that rules (e.g., cultural codes) were negotiated, which then
brought about behaviors. IT follow the same logic as Goodenough's ethno-
science, including all of the same logical assumptions about reality.
If you would like more information on it, let me know. It is a
specialty of mine. Oh yes, one other thing . . . it falls well within
the constructionist/interactionist frame work . . . quite compatible,
but also compatible to structural functionalism. Garfinkle is now at
ICLA.
