Ethnomethodology

Can anyone tell me where Ethnomethodology fits into the grand
scheme of Anthropological studies?

I understood the method to have emerged from fieldwork by
sociologists influenced by continental phenomenology. As it
deals with symbolic and cultural issues I also thought that it
was a branch of cultural anthropology. But, some people tell me
it is a form of social anthropology.

Is there a concensus on this issue?
