memes, learning and mathematics

Thanks to Jerry Barkow for bringing some light to this discussion of "memes"
and "learning." Is there any overlap between the mathematics of population
genetics and whatever goes into designing computer viruses or modeling their
epidemiology.I find this intriquing, having just reread a piece byDan
Sperber in which he remarks that if anthropology becomes a science it will
be "an epidemiology of ideas."
