I'm sorry I didn't see anything indicating where and when listers would
be meeting in Atlanta. Being new to the list, I would have liked to meet
some of you. However . . . Did anyone get to any of the meetings of the
Society for the Anthropology of North America? chair is Ida Susser, CUNY
and the board consists of people in U.S. universities and colleges. But
North America is recognized by these people as including Canada and
Mexico, and I was very curious about it, as a Canadian born and bred, but
an American citizen for many years. Nobody said anything about Canada
and Mexico. The subject to be discussed is "the family," and how it is
taught here in the U.S.A. I pointed out that many Americans think the
Canadian health plan is the best one and that we should adopt it, and
that perhaps Americans can learn other things of value from Canda and
Mexico. But I was regarded as an interloper, I think. I don't get this
at all. Hope someone else on the Anthro list was there. Ruby Rohrlich
