Isherwood

For the thousands of your who have sent messages, clammoring to know if
Isherwood is a Baron or only named Baron: The Library of Congress has him as
B.C. Isherwood, and there appears no appropriate barony in Burke's or
Debrett's.
I am loath to accept the idea that anyone in England would christen a
child `Baron', comparable to an American christening a child `Senator' or
`Associate Justice' or even (given the relative rank of barons)
`Under-Secretary'. However, I must bow to the combined might of the
University of Virginia Alderman Library reference desk staff.
You may all now rest easy, secure in your knowledge.

Yours,

James G. Carrier
