Sheldon Klein gives a most useful synopsis of "Operational Philosophy." I
wonder how one might modify these views (yes I'm looking for pointers) to
view science as the quest for "increasingly reliable representations of the
external world." This removes any special standing for natural language
models increasing the stature of formal language models, computational
models, and whatever other models one might devise. It also allows us to
ask the questions of how close these models actually are to the external
world and how "others" might formulate models.
