Subject: ALERT - Hawai`i Head of State kidnapped by Feds

As many on this list are in the Pacific or American citizens, perhaps you
should be reminded that the struggle to overthrow the illegal US
occupation of Hawai'i is heating up. For some reason that is not clear
to me, the feds have decided to target Bumby Kanahele, the most visible
of many Hawaiians fighting to regain their counntry.

Subject: ALERT - Hawai`i Head of State kidnapped by Feds!

Aloha Kakou!

Pu`uhonua Kanahele, Head of State for the independent Nation of Hawai`i,
was kidnapped ("arrested") Wednesday afternoon, August 2, by Federal agents
in Honolulu, and is now being held without bail (ransom). Kanahele has
been charged with hindering prosecution and harboring a fugitive, stemming
from incidents in early 1994 when he utilized Public Law 103-150, the US
Apology Resolution, to protect Nathan Keliikui Brown, a Hawaiian national
and at that time Deputy Head of State of the Hawai`i Government, from
illegal prosecution and capture by the United States. A preliminary
hearing for Kanahele has been set for Friday, August 4.

The Nation of Hawai`i considers Kanahele a political prisoner. The United
States is illegally occupying Hawai`i, and has no legitimate jurisdiction
in the archipelago. Mr. Kanahele has been targeted at this time, as the
most visible and effective leader for Hawaiian sovereignty, in order to
hinder the rapidly progressing and rightful non-violent exercise of
self-determination by the Hawaiian people towards the restoration of
independence.

The Nation calls out at this time for support on behalf of Mr. Kanahele.
This is a crucial situation which requires immediate action. Please fax,
call and/or write to the offices below, voicing strong opposition to
Kanahele's kidnapping and detention, and expressing support for the
inherent sovereign rights of the Native Hawaiian people and citizens of the
Nation of Hawai`i.

Please also notify this office of your actions, and feel free to contact us
if you have any comments or questions - Mahalo Nui Loa!

All Islands are planning actions for Friday morning - details will be
e-mailed later today.
