UPDATE: Anthropology Resources on the Internetallen lutins (alleycat@SPECTRA.NET)Mon, 15 Apr 1996 05:21:38 GMT
CONTENTS: - Foreword - BITNET and INTERNET discussion groups - USENET discussion groups - Programs and files via anonymous FTP - Gopher servers - World Wide Web servers - General - World Wide Web servers - Museums - World Wide Web servers - Academic Departments - World Wide Web servers - Other Institutions - World Wide Web servers - Commercial Sites - Electronic journals and archives - Further Reading Compiled by: allen h. lutins e-mail: alleycat@spectra.net home page: http://www.nitehawk.com/alleycat/welcome/html Text version posted to: ANTHRO-L, ARCH-L, sci.anthropology, sci.archaeology, sci.archaeology.moderated FTP from ftp.neosoft.com/pub/users/claird/sci.anthropology/Anthropology_network_FAQ Web version at http://www.nitehawk.com/alleycat/anth-faq.html European mirror: http://lucy.ukc.ac.uk/afaq.html FOREWORD This is a comprehensive list of Internet Resources which are *directly* of anthropological relevance; in order to retain manageability, i have omitted sites which only tangentially deal with anthropology, such as native issues. This document was previously named "Internet Resources of Interest to Anthropologists" but the name was changed to conform with news.answers guidelines. New additions and updates are marked with **. Although i've included a copyright disclaimer at the bottom, instructors should feel free to distribute copies of this list to their students without first obtaining my permission, so long as the document is left fully intact. I regret that i do not have the space to thank everyone who's contributed to this list over the years, although many of you are out there...of course, any errors or omissions are purely my own; if you come across any, i'd love to hear from you! Please feel free to contact me with additions, corrections, requests to reprint all or portions of this document, or any other feedback at: alleycat@spectra.net One final note: PLEASE do NOT write to me requesting additional information on anthropological topics; this list comprises most of what i have to offer to the community - i simply do not have the time to field the numerous individual requests for information-gathering that i regularly receive. Thanks. -allen lutins BITNET & INTERNET DISCUSSION GROUPS ACRA-L American Cultural Resources Association--send message "subscribe acra-l your-full-name" to listproc@listproc.nonprofit.net AEGEANET Pre-Classical Aegean World--send message "subscribe aegeanet" to majordomo@acpub.duke.edu AIA-L {moderated} Archaeology & Technology--send message "subscribe aia-l your-first-name your-last-name" to majordom@brynmawr.edu ANE Ancient Near East--send message "subscribe ane" to majordomo@oi.uchicago.edu ANSS-L Discussion Forum for Information Specialists in Anthropology, Sociology and Related Fields--send message "subscribe anss-l your-first-name your-last-name" to listserv@uci.edu AnthEurasia-L Anthropology of the Former Soviet Bloc--send message "subscribe AnthEurasia-L" to majordomo@fas.harvard.edu ANTHAP Applied anthropology news, announcements, jobs, etc. (open only to members of Society for Applied Anthropology or National Association of Practicing Anthropologists)--send request to anthap-request@oakland. bitnet {not a server} ANTHRO-L Anthropology in general--send message "subscribe anthro-l your-first-name your-last-name" to listserv@ubvm.cc.buffalo.edu {see World Wide Web section for ANTHRO-L Home Page/Archives} ANTHRO-LIB Liberation anthropology--send message "subscribe anthro-lib your-first-name your-last-name" to listproc@lists.colorado.edu ANTHROPOLOGY Field-oriented list for experienced cultural anthropologists--send message "subscribe anthropology" to majordomo@iinet.net.au ARCHAEOBOTANY send message "subscribe archaeobotany your-email-address" to listproc@eng-h.gov.uk ARCH-ARCTIC Arctic archaeology--contact maiser@natmus.min.dk ARCH-L Archaeology--send message "subscribe arch-l your-first-name your-last-name" to listserv@tamvm1.tamu.edu ARCH-METALS Archaeology/history of metallurgy--send message "join arch-metals your-first-name your-last-name" to mailbase@mailbase.ac.uk ARCH-STUDENT Students of Archaeology -- send message "subscribe arch-student your-first-name your-last-name" to listproc@lists.colorado.edu ARCH-THEORY Archaeological theory in Europe--send message "join arch-theory your-first-name your-last-name" to mailbase@mailbase.ac.uk ARTIFACT Material culture study/methods--send message "subscribe artifact your-first-name your-last-name" to listserv@umdd.umd.edu ARQUEOANDINA {moderated} For professionals interested in the Andean archaelogy-- send message "subscribe arqueoandina" to listasrcp@rcp.net.pe ASAONET Anthropology of Oceania--send message "subscribe asaonet your-first-name your-last-name" to listserv@uicvm.uic.edu AZTLAN Precolumbian Mesoamerican studies--send message "subscribe aztlan your-first-name your-last-name" to listserv@ulkyvm.louisville.edu C14-L Carbon fourteen dating issues--send message "subscribe c14-l your-first-name your-last-name" to listserv@listserv.arizona.edu.
