I tend to treat Ideology as what people believe, including mythology, which
more specifically refers to the stories or legends about what people
believe.

example:

[ideology] Christians belive that Jesus is the son of God.
[mythology] Christians believe that on the third day after his crucifixion,
Jesus rose from his tomb and ascended into heaven (Happy easter).
