Washington State University, Department of Anthropology invites application
for a full time, permanent, nine month, Assistant Director position, for the
Museum of Anthropology, beginning October 1, 1995. M. A. in Anthropology,
experience in grant writing and archaeological collections management required.
Preference will be given to applicants with museum management experience. The
Museum of Anthropology comprises approximately 4000 square feet of exhibit
space, storage, and other facilities, located in the Anthropology building in
the center of the WSU campus. The ethnographic collections contain some 2000
items including 600 Native American baskets. An additional storage facility
contains some 2500 cubic feet of archaeological material from the Plateau
region of Western North America. The Museum maintains public exhibits,
supports the Department's contract research and instructional activities, and
works closely with the Department's contract arm, the Center for Northwest
Anthropology. Salary $24,000-$26,000 depending on qualifications and
