Having followed this thread for a while, I'll cast my vote for Boas' demonstration that race, language and culture vary independently and, thus, that the
19th century (but alas still with us) notion of ethnic nationalism in which
race, language and culture are assumed to coincide is fundamentally flawed: the
lust for "ethnic cleansing" notwithstanding.
