student a hand. In two weeks I am to give a short (30 minutes)
presentation on Clifford Geertz, the anthropologist to my senior
History of Anthropological Theory seminar. It's a small (10 students)
group, and I'd like to keep it interesting. Unfortunately, many of the
presentations thus far have been deadly dull and badly organized. This
reminded me of the earlier thread on this list about training for young
teaching anthropologists, so I thought I'd look to the list for advice.
My question is two-fold.
A) What are your opinions (if any) of the work of Clifford Geertz?
Are there any particular resources by/about him you think I should
definitely use?
and B) What advice do you have for a 30 minute presentation to a group
of approximately 10 tudents, with at least a fundamental grasp
of the basics? At this point, I don't know of any restrictions on
media, so suggestions of handouts, videos, quizzes mimes and so on
are encouraged. I would like to keep this presentation interesting
as well as informative.
Thanks in advance for your help! Remember, you're helping mold a
future teacher! :)
