structuralism and it's post- descendent, how do I, as an archaeologist
use this concept to interpret stones and bones and patterns derived
therefrom found in the ground?
I have never denied the importance of process, change and
circumstance, nor have I ever questioned the role of human beings as
active creators of culture. _Something_ created the patterns of artifacts
and faunal remains I find in my sites, and I doubt seriously that it
was solely cryoturbation and geomorphological processes. Have I missed
out on something from my outpost in the hinterland. Has archaeological
thought gone full circle around me while I stayed in one place?
Perplexed in the wilderness...
